Magnus Stray Vyrje co-founded Stray Vyrje in 1996 and has more than 30 years of experience as an attorney. He advises businesses, organisations and private individuals on legal matters and dispute resolution across a broad range of areas of business and private law.

Magnus has extensive experience in employment law, contract and corporate law, board liability and commercial advisory work, as well as extensive litigation and advocacy experience. He has particular expertise in copyright, intellectual property rights and legal matters relating to education and research.

Magnus regularly writes about copyright, technology and academic rights and lectures on these topics, including for the Norwegian Association of Researchers. Since 2000, he has written the legal commentaries in Gyldendal Rettsdata on several key chapters of the Norwegian Copyright Act.

In 2025, Magnus received Kapital’s “Legal Achievement of the Year” award for his work on the landmark self-plagiarism case, which he successfully argued before the Supreme Court.
